The owners of my apartment, Henrique and Ana, were truly superb. Not only did they do everything to make sure the apartment was welcoming (fresh fruit, breakfast in the fridge, a fine bottle of Portuguese wine on the kitchen table), they even helped me find a doctor when I needed one for a pre-existing condition. Ana helps run the music festival in the nearby square and made sure I had a seat in the front row reserved for me if ever I felt like attending. I recommend this apartment most highly!!! p.s. the books in the photo make for wonderful browsing during downtime in Lisbon.
Ana is a very very nice hostess. Checking the plane arrival time, and also by the street window when you come. The flat is located is the ancient Lisbon, similar to a village, with old trams, and very close to the decorative art Museum with a fantastic panoramic view. Definitley a human district and a flat to stay and come back.
Great place, great stay!
We had a lovely time at Ana's flat in Alfama - an ideal apartment for 2-3 people in a wonderful part of town. The place was clean, accessible and very well laid out; I would stay there in a heartbeat on future occasions.
Perfect host, welcoming and supportive! Providing not only relevant information about the studio but also about the neighbourhood. The studio is very centrally located and most of Lisbon highlights can be reached on foot. Check out restaurants and bars in the immediate neighbourhood and do not miss the “miradouro”. I would positively recommend both the host and the studio.
Sandra and her Dad Carlos were so kind and made our stay in Lisbon that much more special. The apartment is in a wonderful area of Alfama close to some great cafes. Is set up for everything you need and accommodated the five of us well - I slept on the sofa bed which is long and perfect for someone tall. Have to say that the special touch of Carlos driving my family to the rental car depot to begin our Portuguese adventure saved us an hour and was totally a perfect end to a delightful stay.
Very well located between Alfama and Graça areas which are beautiful, as well as very near to the Castelo. Easily accessible with 2 lines of tramway. Just think about asking Ana how to reach the apartment before because it is a bit difficult to find in the beginning. We spend 3 days in this charming apartment, very well furnished and decorated. Towels and sheets are provided. Everything is available to cook if your need. The area is calm. If you need to use the Sofa as your bed, just remind Ana to bring the appropriate linen. For your information, there are no shutter in the main room, so you might be waked up early by the sun, but then you will have plenty of time to explore beautiful Lisbon !!!

The apartment was perfect. It was clean, tidy and bright. The location is very good as well. It's located in a typical area and very close to the center. Ana and Elena were very kind and welcoming.
We loved our stay at Casa Adica! The owners welcomed us with maps and great suggestions of where to visit. The apartment was clean and fully stocked. The apartment is centrally located and within walking distance of most sites and great restaurants. I would highly recommend this apartment.
I stayed in Casa Capitao for 7 days in April 2011.It`s an excellent flat - nice and quiet place, located between 2 metro station (every station is 5 min walk from the flat). Location is very good - 10 min to city center (metro) and 10 min to the airport (taxi - 7-8 euros). Flat is fully equiped with all you can need like kitchen facilities. Carlos was a nice host, he gave us a lot of useful information and help us with a taxi on the way home. Ana was perfect - she was helpful and had an answer on every question :)
Firs - very confortable location, the train and metro station Santa Antonia is two minutes walking distance. Second - the apartament is very confortable and fully equiped with all you can need like kitchen facilities. It is quiet place without noise from crouds and cars. The only thing that must be noticed is the stair to the apartament wich is a little bit heavy Ana is very worm and precise host! I recomended this flat very much
Wonderful location and easy and friendly and easy handling.
We were warmly welcomed by the host, who showed us around the apartment, which was very well furnished, spacious and comfortable - we loved the sofa! The kitchen was well equipped, including a coffee machine. The local shop was very good for food, and was open all hours, except on a Monday. It was lovely to open the doors / windows to get a cooling draft through the apartment, at the same time as the sun streamed in. The town was a five minute bus ride away, but you could walk in (downhill) in 20 minutes if you are fit. The bus costs as much as a taxi for two to get into town, so get a bus card if you can; it will save you a lot of money.
A beautiful, light, airy flat with gorgeous decor in a really quiet residential area. The centre of town, station and beaches are about twenty minutes walk, but it's an easy walk, and relaxing out of the bustle of Cascais in the apartment at the end of the day makes it worth it. Silvia met us, and dropped us at the station at the end of our stay - my friend and I really needed a break, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect escape.
This apartment in Alfama is a perfect place to base yourself for a visit to Lisbon. Alfama is a rich and colorful area where you can surround yourself with locals and get a very special glimpse of this part of the city, with its tiled and coloured buildings, winding cobblestone streets and rattling trams. The apartment is just 2 minutes walk from a stop on the famous number 28 tram line or less than 15 minutes walk to downtown Lisbon. Itis modern, clean and has everything you should need. Win.
Simply fantastic !! The appartment is better than what you see in the pictures. There is everything you need to make your stay perfect. The location is excellent, only 4 minutes walk from the metro ( Martim Moniz station ) and many important places to go you don´t even have to take public transportation. The neighbourhood is very pintoresque and safe. WiFi works prefectly, and Ana is a wonderful host. Thank you Ana !!!
nice compact little apartment, right in the heart of Alfama, it was perfect for our short stay. taxi did rip us off on the way there, but if you get the Aerobus (line 91) it's not a long walk from the Praca do Comerico to this place (having GPS on my phone helped though).
We had a great time at this apartment. We arrived late because our flight was delayed only to find a welcoming host with a bottle of wine and cheese patiently waiting. Everything was well explained about the flat. The flat is pretty central and easy to get to most tourist attractions. The terrace was a find, we had amazing barbecues. Overall, a very pleasant experince in a well equiped apartment in lisbon. Will stay the again!
Apartment was nice and clean, with a small balcony towards the not so nice backyard. Bathroom and kitchen were nice looking and very practical. Only minor defect was the beds, since the mattresses are hard. Host was very pleasurable person and explained the details of gas boiler (for hot water) to us. Local mini markets and restaurants were nice and at close range; especially restaurant Casa do Rosita is really good with food and also has a smart interior; our children love those deserts now.
The apartment has everything you could possibly wish for. It was spot clean and we enjoyed staying there. The location is perfect for discovering Lisbon since everything is more or less in walking distance. I would come back any time. :)

We had a great time in Lisbon and it's partly due to the apartment we stayed in. In the heart of the Alfama, away from the flow of tourists, you are in the heart of the real old Lisbon but also close (walk distance) from everything. The apartment was clean and spacious, and yes the stairs are steap but as they are for every traditional buildings in Lisbon! :) And it's only three small flights up, nothing for us who are from paris and used to 5 floors buildings! I highly recommend this place. Ana was very nice and welcoming.
This apartment is beautiful and clean, right in the historic neighborhoods of Graca and Alfama. Helena met us at the apartment, and was very helpful at suggesting places to go, even though it was late in the evening. Check in was simple, and the apartment had all the amenities one could ask for: kitchen, washer/dryer, bathroom, two bunk beds and a sofe bed, and wifi. Some things to note: the area is very hilly, but tram lines are close by if you aren't up to hiking up and down into town. The streets can be noisy, and it is easy to hear the upstairs neighbors through the ceiling. I had a wonderful stay and would recommend this place to those who wish to experience historic Lisbon.
We had just a totally wonderful stay at the Casa Lapa at Historic Alfama property. Our hosts Ana and Helena, who both are fluent in English were great. They were waiting for us on our arrival and gave us helpful information about the area. They even led us to our car return which we would have had a difficult finding with Lisbon's confusing traffic pattern. The apartment was one of the nicest we have stayed in with all the comforts of home: excellent kitchen facilities including a dishwasher; a clothes washer, nice lighting, and spotless everything. Best of all was the community feeling of the neighborhood. As we four sixty-some year olds climbed the three floors to our apartment, we were greeted by our neighbors, and we had the feeling they were looking out for us during our week's stay. This included returning some drying laundry that blew off our clothesline. It reminded me of the "I Remember Momma" days. The location of our apartment was excellent - only minutes away from reasonable restaurants, many of which were frequented only by the local residents; many small markets which provided all out needs; all forms of public transportation: bus, train, taxi; and a shot walk to the waterfront. If you need to locate the apartment, find your way to the Fado Museum and ask at one of the local cafes where Beco Da Lapa is. We did and the locals actually led us the way to the street, including Fernanda, who it turned out, lived next door. We have nothing but fond memories of our stay and plan to return one day.
Dear Maria thank for your help. It have been a great pleasure to meet you. And the stay in your apartment have been wonderfull. We stay in contact of course. Love from Marianne og Flemming, OF DENMARK

Ola Maria, Just a brief note of thanks for sharing your wonderful place in Lisbon with us. We had a fabulous time during our short stay and were delighted with the warm welcome we received from you last week. The apartment really is extremely comfortable and perfectly placed to enjoy your beautiful city. We will certainly be happy to post a great review of the apartment and spread the word to friends and family. We would definitely hope to visit again. Hopefully we left the apartment in good shape. Wishing you very best regards. Clare & Mary (Dublin, Ireland)
Great apartment in a charming neighborhood of Lisbon. Natural light fills the apartment, the kitchen is modern (and complete with a washing machine), and there is a comfortable living room that is thoughtfully decorated. I could have stayed here a lot longer!
What is nice about Alfama that there is much less tourists than in e.g. Barrio Alto and it is much more quite at night. The apartment is at the top of the neighborhood, just underneath the castle. It was very clean and tidy when we arrived, all IKEA furnished and looks very new. It is on the ground floor with a narrow couple stone street outside the door with steady stream of cars. The apartment is somewhat humid. I found the bed duvet very impressive and wished I had one so thick at home. Very close is the lower part of Alfama with pedestrian only pathways between the houses, looks and feels very ancient. Also short way is the castle with amazing views over the city. On the way down to the center there is a famous viewpoint over the lower part of Alfama and the sea. It seems to be the center of tourists in the neighborhood. I warn against the café in the corner of the square, it is a tourist trap and two cups of coffee and two toasts with ham and cheese costed 20 euros there.
